In addition, from our experience, appraisers and ARB members are more inclined to listen to arguments from agents than property owners because of the knowledge of the subject matter. This isn't to say that some property owners are not aware of the conditions and circumstances that are overvaluing their property, but they may not be as familiar with the formalities and processes as we are.

How to Protest

Filing a protest to dispute your ad valorem taxes can be very easy. Some counties make it very simple, allowing most things to be done online by your tax agent, and others may be more complicated. Either way, Resolute will protest for you, and provide you with the best service possible.

So how do you protest if you feel your ad valorem taxes are too high? If you hire Resolute or protest yourself, you must protest between May 1 and May 31 (some exceptions apply). Most appraisal districts will send your new value notice in April and that will provide you with some instruction on how to protest. In most districts a letter stating property owner, property address or account number, and a valid reason for the protest, sent to the county in the specified time will suffice as your protest.

Hiring Resolute will make this process very simple for you. When you hire us we will receive your value notice, protest for you, and attend your hearing(s) after that. You do not have to choose for us to receive your notice or protest for you in order for us to work your hearing. You can simply protest and sign an Appointment of Agent form authorizing Resolute to be your agent. This does happen frequently, but if you would like Resolute to take care of everything for you and communicate the results, we are very happy to provide this service.


Resolute Property Tax provides services to reduce the county ad valorem property value of our clients' properties thereby reducing their property tax burden. We put together a detailed analysis specifically tailored to your property to get the greatest reduction possible for you, therefore reducing the amount of taxes you will pay. The process to reduce the ad valorem value of a property will include as necessary: filing protests and other paperwork for clients, informal appraisal hearings, formal Appraisal Review Board hearings, and expert witness in judicial appeals.


123 Maple St. is given a noticed ad valorem assessment value of $100,000 by the local county appraisal district. This particular home is located in an area with a 3% tax rate. The property tax due for this home, pending no petitions or exemptions, is $3,000. Resolute petitions for an appraisal review and finds evidence that the value of the home is really $85,000. If the county agrees with our argument (either in the informal or formal hearing), and lowers the value based on that argument, the home's value is changed. By changing the value, the property tax now due is $2,550 versus the original $3,000. This is a 15% savings in property taxes due amounting to $450. We bill 50%, so you save $225 without lifting a finger.

The commercial process is similar to the residential protest and appeals process. Litigation & Arbitration

In the event that a client believes that the settlement was unjust, they may resolve the matter through a judicial appeal process. This is not recommended but, if necessary and requested by the client, Resolute will do everything in their service to work with an attorney and bring a suit before the appraisal district. At this point an attorney is required. We have an in-house attorney that will assist in the litigation process and we will work together in order provide your property with the best case possible.
